Ok, so here is Part 2 in regards to how to get started with an adult website. My last post described how to pick a web host that specializes in adult content. Now that we have that under our belt, what type of site are we going to build to display, market and sell our adult material?
Well, there are a lot of adult website options; here are a few of the more popular ones:
Free Sites – A sampling of content, relative to the niche you will be advertising. The idea here is that surfers will view this content and want more. This teaser is setup to entice the surfers into clicking on the advertisements/banners on your site, signing up or purchase the product/service you are promoting, thus earning you money.
Galleries – Thumbnail gallery posts (TGP’s) are popular due to the vast amount of free content available via sponsor hosted galleries. Individuall thumbnails (small pictures) or a small group of thumbnails are posted on TGP’s in order to showcase content that is available on a specific paysite. The idea here is to place banners to the paysite the content is related to, in hopes that the surfer will want to see more pics of the particular model or niche and signup to that site. Bingo, you guessed it…earning you money!
Membership Sites – Membership sites are a bit harder and more costly to get going. They require a large amount of content, at least one billing solution and a lot of knowledge in regards to programming, etc. Most webmasters will start with a free site, galleries or a blog prior to diving into the adult membership site arena. The idea behind a membership site is to offer surfers a membership to the site for a fee on a trial or monthly basis.
Content Sites – Without Content sites, none of the above would be feasible. Content sites are collections of content produced for the sole purpose of reselling. If you are a content producer or are looking to get into content producing, Content sites are a great way to get your feet wet within the adult industry without having to worry about the surfer side of things.
Ok that is the basic types of adult sites, but really the sky is the limit! Step # 2 Choose a site type that interests you and run with it. You can go big or go small, either way it is important that you find something that peaks your interest as it will show through your site and make it more believable, more successful.
Coming up on Part 3 – Deciding on a domain name.
